Game Start Time – 12:10 PM (AEDT)
Game Breakdown:
The 3 seeded Kings take on the 6th-seeded Timberwolves in an exciting western conference matchup today at 12pm. The shock team of the season the Kings have somehow figured a way into a solid playoff spot after making arguably one of the worst trades in NBA history last season by trading up-and-coming young star Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield to the Indiana Pacers for the big man Domantas Sabonis who has been the key to the Kings successes.
This will be the second matchup between these two teams in the past 3 days. Superstar shooting guard Anthony Edwards was the player of the game on Sunday’s matchup as he had a loud 34, 10 and 6 along with 5 threes. Edwards has taken his play to the next level and Kings point guard De’aaron Fox will hope to respond to his inefficient performance on Sunday and take his team to a win on the road.
Kings breakdown:
The Kings are obviously looking to tie up the season series with a win on the road here and they are going to have to find a way to stop Anthony Edwards. Even aside from his 34 points on Sunday he had 6 assists and created numerous open looks for his teammates while maintaining dominance on offence.
The offensive side of the floor has never been an issue for Sacramento as they actually lead the league in scoring by a fair margin. Fox, Sabonis and Kevin Huerter have had unreal seasons so far as they have a chemistry that is unmatched and are proving to be very difficult for teams to deal with. Even Barnes, Murray and Monk have been excellent pieces that contribute to the stellar offence the Kings possess. I think the Kings will get their revenge tomorrow led by a dominant De’aaron Fox performance and a big all-around game from Sabonis and the supporting cast.
Timberwolves Breakdown:
Edwards and D lo are in some very impressive form over the past few games combining for an average of almost 50 point ppg in their last 10! The T Wolves are 7-3 in their last 10 off the back of Edwards and D Lo Russell not to mention their supporting cast in Gobert, Mcdaniels, Ried and Kyle Anderson.
I am a huge fan of Minnesota and believe they are up there with the top 6 in the west, however, after going against them when they played the Grizzlies, I’m going to stay on that side of the fence. I can’t see the young team keeping the Kings under 118 points today and a large reason is the health of Rudy Gobert. Although he will most likely play, he is their best interior defender but if Fox can use his speed and start taking advantage of the paint he will create shots for their shooters like Barnes, Murray and Huerter which will really hurt Minnesota if they get going.
The T wolves will be right in this game tho it’s a coin flip to pick the winner and this will be a great game with a fantastic display of offence on both teams.
The Verdict:
Who Wins?: The Kings get up here it’ll most likely be back and forth but I see the Kings sneaking away here by 1-10 points.
