I'm a young man from the Western Suburbs of Melbourne just trying to make his way in this media game. I fell in love with racing when Wanted won the Newmarket Handicap after having an underage bet on him and I fell in love with football as soon as I could hold one. I'll be providing you tips galore around footy and horse racing and for my ramblings you can follow me on Twitter and Facebook.

It is Caulfield Cup day this weekend as we head back to the Heath for the five million dollar race over 2400m. Last years Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip is a narrow $6.50 favourite in the feature after a dominant Turnbull Stakes win. The supporting cast features both the Caulfield Classic and Ethereal Stakes which are the two main lead ups to the Victorian Derby and Victorian Oaks. The Thousand Guineas Prelude also takes place for the Fillies and the Tristarc Stakes at G2 level looks like a good field. Let’s get into it! RACE 1: 3-Y-O, C&G PLATE, 1400M…

We head to Flemington this Saturday and it is ‘moving day’. We have a bit of everything on this program but it is headlined by the Group One Turnbull Stakes over 2000m where Hong Kong superstar Romantic Warrior is a $2.15 favourite in his first Australian start. I expect that price to drift out. The main event is accompanied by the Bart Cummings over 2500m where the winner is an automatic starter in the Melbourne Cup, the Danehill Stakes for horses being set for the Coolmore Stakes, and both the Super Impose and Edward Manifold for the 3YO stayers. The…

We head to the Valley this Friday Night for the main Victorian meeting over Grand Final weekend where the headline is programmed by the G1 Moir Stakes. The star New Zealand Mare Imperatriz is the $1.75 favourite with Asfoora being the second favourite at $6. The Stutt Stakes also takes place for the progressive 3YO stayers – some which are on a Derby or Oaks path. The star Western Australian Amelia’s Jewel will race in the G2 Stocks Stakes as a $1.35 favourite and the meeting is ended with the Scarborough Stakes for the 3YO Fillies where Magic Millions winner…

Well, the 2023 AFL season comes down to this. The Collingwood Football club and the Brisbane Lions face off in the AFL Grand Final. These two teams are the most deserving Grand Finalists we have seen as a duo for the best part of a decade. Clearly the best two teams all season get to battle it out to see which team comes out on top. Led by Darcy Moore and Craig Macrae, the Magpies have been terrific all season and have played a brilliant brand of football which culminated in eighteen wins. The Lions, led by dual Brownlow Medallist…

We head back to Caulfield after a brilliant day at Flemington last week where we smashed the bookies. The rail is out 6m and although it is hard to predict the track, Caufield has played very fairly with the better lanes being the outside ones in the straight in previous weeks which generally makes for the best racing. The headline of the program is the Underwood Stakes at G1 level over 1800m where Alligator Blood backs up from last week as the $3.30 favourite. There is a host of other races that have ramifications for the remainder of the Spring…

Racing heads back to Flemington this week after the luckless Valley meeting last week and it must be said that we are happy about it. The best track in the world with some of the best horses in the world on a glorious Melbourne afternoon. Can it get any better? The meeting is headlined by the Makybe Diva Stakes where Alligator Blood, Princess Grace, and Mr Brightside resume their rivalry after a good duel in the Memsie. The supporting cast is led by the Western Australian champion Amelia’s Jewel having her first start in Victoria in the Let’s Elope Stakes,…

We head to Moonee Valley this week as the Spring Carnival continues. To be frank, the Valley is probably my least preferred track out of the metropolitan tracks in Victoria to bet at. That won’t stop us from trying to find you a winner though. The meeting is headlined by the G2 Feehan Stakes over a mile where the unbeaten Globe is a $3 favourite. And the co-main event is the McEwen Stakes at G2 level where Australian superstar Giga Kick returns to face the star New Zealand mare in Imperatriz who was last seen winning the G1 William Reid…

Well, after 25 long weeks September is upon us. The weather might not tell you that the Spring has officially hit in Melbourne but this city is buzzing with excitement again for one thing – footy. As Mike Brady says, there’s a lot of things around in this great city, but when you line them up together, the footy wins hands down. Now to the actual football. The oldest club in Australia in Melbourne try to win their second AFL Premiership in four years and they kick off the weekend on Thursday Night against the table toppers Collingwood who are…

We head to Caulfield this week for the first Group One in the Victorian racing season. The Memsie Stakes is the headline event where three of the best horses in Australia will do battle in Mr Brightside, I Wish I Win, and Alligator Blood over 1400m. The supporting cast is led by three Group Three races which should be good form references for races like the Coolmore and Guineas later on in the Spring. When the rail is in the true position, we generally see fair racing here so map/tempo will be the important factor. Let’s get into it! RACE…
