Another blockbuster round of AFL has been and gone. Some down-to-the-wire contests took place, as well as outstanding performances across the board, including yet another elite display from Nick Daicos. The Bont continued his return to form and Jeremy Cameron remains the one-man band at Geelong picking up some votes as well.

Let’s get into it!

Round 4 Votes

Brisbane (116) DEf Collingwood (83)

Collingwood’s undefeated streak comes to an end at the hands of a gallant Brisbane effort. Cam Rayner reminded everyone of the star he can be and Charlie Cameron managed to snag 6 goals to bring the Lions right back into form.

1 Vote – Cam Rayner (Bris) – Weird that a 4-goal, 17-touch game only grabs 1 vote here, but that’s just how competitive this game was for votes.

2 Votes – Nick Daicos (Coll) – Again, stiff to miss 3 votes here, as usually a 38-touch, 2-goal game would be an instant 3 votes, but somehow he got outshined.

3 Votes – Charlie Cameron (Bris) – 6 Goals, 6 marks, 4 tackles and 14 touches in a winning side, Charlie just has to take the 3 votes here.

North Melbourne (84) Def By Carlton (107)

The most competitive Good Friday clash we have seen in years with North Melbourne showing a lot of improvement, but predictably crumbling late in the game.

1 Vote – Harry Sheezel (NM) – 37 Touches at 82% efficiency, 3 tackles, 5 marks and 3 clearances. This kid is the favourite of the Rising Star award now and he deserves it.

2 Votes – Harry McKay (Car) – Not only did he kick 4 goals, but he took a staggering 14 marks, 6 of which were inside the forward 50. Great game and was pivotal to their runaway efforts in the final half.

3 Votes – Charlie Curnow (Car) – 6 goals and 2 behinds and 9 marks, 4 of them were contested and on top of that, 11 score involvements. Fantastic game.

Adelaide (111) def Fremantle (72)

Adelaide gains some much-needed momentum with a big win over Fremantle, who after finishing 1-3 are in some serious strife.

1 Vote – Izak Rankine (Adel) – 3 goals, 15 touches, 5 tackles and just an all-round strong game that displayed how good of a pickup he was for the Crows.

2 Votes – Josh Rachele (Adel) – 3 goals, 20 touches, 7 goal involvements and 21 pressure acts. His new midfield role has completely changed his career and he continues to thrive.

3 Votes – Jordan Dawson (Adel) – He picked up 27 disposals at a staggering 96% efficiency, 13 contested possessions, 598 metres gained, five marks, six tackles and a goal to put the cherry on top. A real captain’s game.

Richmond (84) def by Western Bulldogs (89)

The Dogs managed to stem the bleeding of their year and get back to a 2-2 position when 0-6 looked very possible. They don’t love the MCG. But they manage to get the win with some Bont and Libba brilliance in the middle.

1 Vote – Tom Liberatore (WB) – A classic Libba get in and get the ball out sorta game here. Only the 23 touches, but the 10 tackles and 7 clearances gets him a vote.

2 Votes – Baily Dale (WB) – 30 touches, 11 contested, at 83% efficiency, 6 score involvements, 7 marks and 11 intercept possessions, he certainly picks up a couple of votes here.

3 Votes – Marcus Bontempelli (WB) – What a game from Bont. He didn’t kick a goal like he usually does, but 9 score involvements, 17 contested possessions, 11 clearances and a staggering 35 pressure acts. BOG performance here.

St Kilda (113) Def Gold Coast (60)

The Saints keep marching on to their perfect 4-0 start for the season, while the Suns seem to have some serious issues with their depth.

1 Vote – Noah Anderson (GC) – Really tried to put the team on his back and do it all himself with 38 touches, 17 of them contested, 7 clearances, 10 tackles and 35 pressure acts.

2 Votes – Mitch Owens (Stk) – He has really bloomed into a fantastic AFL-calibre footballer. 27 touches, 19 contested with 7 score involvements including 2 goals. Excited to see where he goes.

3 Votes – Jack Higgins (Stk) – 5 goals for Higgo in this one and 12 score involvements. He was also way more efficient than he usually is, popping up with 22 touches at 82% efficiency.

Sydney (64) Def by Port Adelaide (66)

What a thriller, we really all thought Florent had kicked that goal until he hadn’t. What a choke by the Swans.

1 Vote – Aliir Aliir (PA) – This isn’t just because he made the game-winning save on the goal line, anytime the Swans started to get rolling, Aliir would pop up and take one of his 12 intercept possessions.

2 Votes – Chad Warner (Syd) – After a couple of quiet weeks, Warner bounced back in a big way, 30 touches, 2 goals and 9 clearances, big game for Chaddy.

3 Votes – Ollie Florent (Syd) – Poor Ollie. He thought he had kicked the winner, he was jumping for joy and then immediately shattered when he realised it fell short. But let’s be real, he was BOG anyways. He was everywhere and he managed a goal earlier in the game as well.

Essendon (88) def GWS (75)

The Bombers under Brad Scott have been a revolution. Playing with much more confidence than we have seen recently and when they were under the pump in a very losable game for them, they dug in and got the job done.

1 Vote – Josh Kelly (GWS) – A successful return from injury for Kelly here with 28 touches and a couple of snags.

2 Votes – Mason Redman (Ess) – This guy just keeps getting better and better. One of the best run-off halfback types in the league at the moment. 8 intercepts, 27 touches at 89% efficiency and he even managed to push forward and kick a goal.

3 Votes – Jake Stringer (Ess) – Gee how big would this game have been if he could kick straight? 4 goals and 6 behinds. One of his best games in a long time.

West Coast (63) def by Melbourne (126)

The Eagles were certainly respectable, but the Dees predictably ran over the top of them.

1 Vote – Clayton Oliver (Mel) – Clayton can’t play a bad game, it seems impossible, he will probably poll in most games this year.

2 Votes – Tim Kelly (WC) – Another outstanding performance in a losing side, he kicks 2 goals and grabs 36 touches, 5 tackles and 6 marks.

3 Votes – Christian Petracca (Mel) – Another player who will be polling in most of the games this year as he almost never plays a bad game. Plenty of touches and 3 goals on top of that. Gun.

Geelong (127) def Hawthorn (45)

An Easter Monday blockbuster that finally brought out the Cats of old. Are they back? Sometimes an easy win is all you need to bring them back to form.

1 Vote – Patrick Dangerfield (Gee) – He was back to his brilliant best here, with plenty of touches, plenty of clearances and a goal as well. A real captain’s game.

2 Votes – Mitch Duncan (Gee) – God, the Cats have been missing his presence off of half back. 31 touches at 81% and plenty of metres gained up the ground.

3 Votes – Jeremy Cameron (Gee) – He is THE man right now. 7 goals. 7! He is unstoppable right now and is dominating every game he plays.

What a round of AFL footy we had last week! Some contentious umpire calls as well as interesting upsets defined Round 3. When it comes to the votes, Nick Daicos continues his ascent to the top, while an injury to Luke Davies-Uniacke saw him fall behind the pace a little. But there is plenty of time to make up ground of course.

Let’s get into it!

Round 3 Votes

Bulldogs (67) def Lions (53)

Great game this, Bulldogs came out on top after a hard-fought battle. Good to see them playing some better footy finally.

1 Vote – Tom Liberatore (WB) 29 touches, 9 tackles, 6 score involvements. Turned back the clock with this one.

2 Votes – Jamarra Ugle-Hagen (WB) 5 goals and consistent domination down front. Played really well and it is good to see him starting to mature into AFL footy and be the strong presence that we knew he could be.

3 votes – Marcus Bontempelli (WB) 28 touches with 16 of them being contested possessions, 8 clearances and 6 tackles. Hard ball wins all day.

Collingwood (63) Def Tigers (49)

Close contest this. Was an arm wrestle all game and a low-scoring first half. Great win for FLAGpies.

1 vote – Josh Daicos (Coll) . 28 touches, 1 goal, 14 contested possessions. Really playing well on the wing for Collingwood in some AA form so far.

2 votes- Nick Daicos (Coll). What a gun. This kid could seriously win the Brownlow! Some teams are going to have to start giving him some attention because he literally is the backbone of Collingwood’s team. 33 touches, 5 score involvements.

3 Votes – Jordon De Goey (Coll) – Easily best on. Dictated the game. Playing some really good footy here and is giving me Dane Swan vibes. Gets that hard ball and utilises it very very well. 35 touches, 15 contested, 8 score involvements, and 9 clearances.

Hawthorn (80) Def North Melbourne (61)

Good to see Hawthorn get some rare points for this year and disappointing that a late blow to LDU saw him miss out on some votes.

1 vote – James Sicily (Haw). 28 touches, 21 kicks a whopping 18 marks. Snags one point and deserves it.

2 votes- Will Day (Haw)– this guy is gonna be some player. 21-year-old, 29 possessions, 20 kicks, 11 marks, 9 score involvements and 5 clearances. Really doing good.

3 votes- Dylan Moore (Haw). Best game I’ve seen this guy play. 26 touches, 2 goals and 12 marks. 9 score involvements to add to it. Sealed the game for the Hawks which we haven’t seen from their forward line in recent years.

GWS (64) Def By Carlton (74)

A great game marred by the Umpires changing the momentum late in the contest to get Carlton over the line. Stupid descent call!

1 Vote- Sam Docherty (Car). 39 touches, 10 marks, 1 goal and 10 score involvements. Huge player

2 votes – Nick Newman (Car) 24 touches @ 88%, 9 intercept possessions, 5 score involvements, 11 marks.

3 votes- Patrick Cripps (Car) King. Dad. 42 touches, 11 score involvements, and 13 clearances. BOG by a mile. All time game from him.

St Kilda (92) Def Essendon (74)

Saints get up appropriately in their Birthday contest to start the year 3-0!

1 vote – Callum Wilkie (Stk), 19 touches @ 90%, 13 marks, 11 intercept possessions. Was intercepting all day downtick transistioning into forward attack.

2 votes – Jack Higgins (Stk), 4 snags and 19 touches. Higgins playing some good footy for the Saints which is awesome to see for the fan favourite.

3 votes – Mason Wood (Stk) 27 touches, 1 goal, 11 marks, 7 score involvements, 21 kicks. Controlled the game all over the ground. Easy 3 votes.

Port Adelaide (86) Def By Adelaide (117)

The showdown! What a wrestle. I love these clashes just as much as the players do. So much passion in the game. The Crows get over the line in an impressive display.

1 vote- Connor Rozee (PA), 28 touches. 1 goal, 6 score involvements, 6 clearances. Cleans up one vote.

2 votes- Riley Thilthorpe (Adel) 5 snags. Say no more.

3 votes – Izak Rankine (Adel). This guy has come back from an ACL a couple of years back, moved clubs and is now the missing piece Adelaides needed in the forward line. The way he works with Thilthorpe is amazing. He is so good at forward stoppages. 4 goals 17 touches 5 tackles and 8 score involvements.

Gold Coast (73) Def Geelong (54)

What an upset! The Cats have a major premiership hangover. They need a win soon or things could get ugly!

1 vote- Lachie Weller (GC) 29 touches, 7 Maris and 5 score involvements. Scrapes in 1 vote.

2 votes- Jack Lukosius (GC) 5 snags. Huge from him. 12 score involvements and 9 marks. Fantastic game.

3 votes – Matt Rowell (GC) Is he back? Getting some good form after an injury string for a while. 24 touches, 18 of which are contested. What a bull! 9 clearances. What a legend.

Melbourne (134) Def Sydney (84)

Great arm wrestle until the last quarter with Melbourne showing class and running away with it majorly.

1 vote – Brodie Grundy (Mel) 25 hit outs, 21 disposals and 9 score involvements. Had a big game when Gawny misses out.

2 votes- Christian Petracca (Mel) 33 touches, 6 clearances, 8 score involvements. He’s a gun

3 votes – Clayton Oliver (Mel) 25 touches, and 2 goals. Hitting the scoreboard as a midfielder is so important and to do it twice shows his dominance. Easy. 3 votes.

Fremantle (108) Def Eagles (67)

Death, Taxes and Eagles being injury prone. They were there for much of the contest but no match when they were left without a bench in the last quarter. Was just miserable.

1 vote – Sam Switkowski (Fre) 21 touches 2 goals. Did well upfront.

2 votes – Tim Kelly (WC) In a losing side he shined. 33 touches, 9 score involvements, 5 clearances.

3 Votes – Caleb Serong (Fre). BOG by far. What a jet. 35 touches, 16 contested possessions, 9 score involvements and 8 clearances. What a game!

We are back for another year of predicting the Brownlow Medalist winner! Sometimes, it is an easy award to predict, as one player, in particular, will have a runaway season, a la Gary Ablett or Dustin Martin. Other times it gets a little trickier. Take last year for example. We walked into Brownlow night with a handful of genuine contenders and we had people calling three-way tie and being serious about it. But we have you covered. All year we will predict who gets the 1, 2, 3 in every game and by the end of the year, you should get a strong grasp of who is walking away with the Charlie at the end of the night.

In the last 2 years, we have managed to predict the Winner in 2021, with a successful Quinella pick. And in 2022, while we fell short of the winner by a couple of votes, we hit the Trifecta of Neale, Cripps and Miller which paid great money!

But enough chit-chat, let’s get into the votes!

ROund 1 Votes

Richmond (58) Draw Carlton (58)

What a contest. A draw in the first game is always amazing to see, as it means we have been treated to a hard-fought, neck-and-neck contest to kick off the season.

1 Vote – Tim Taranto (Rich). 32 disposals, 18 kicks and 5 clearances. Definitely racked it up in his new club and well done to him.

2 Votes- Lewis Young (Carl). 20 disposals, 14 of them intercept possessions. Was a huge presence down back for the Blues and dominated.

3 Votes- Daniel Rioli (Rich). This kid had the game of his career and looks very good off the halfback. 27 touches, @ 93% efficiency. 7 intercept possessions and 5 score involvements.

Geelong (103) Def By Collingwood (125)

Great game this one. The Flagpies knock off the reigning premiers in a great game that was constantly changing with momentum until the final QTR.

1 Vote – Scott Pendlebury (Coll) 27 touches, 1 goal, 4 clearances and 8 tackles. Speaks for itself.

2 Votes- Nick Daicos (Coll) 35 Touches at 91% efficiency, 3 clearances, 5 Inside 50’s and 9 score involvements. The kid is still a jet, expect “N Daicos” to be said many times in this year’s count.

3 Votes- Jordon DeGoey (Coll) 25 touches with 11 score involvements, 3 of which being goals. He was the stand-out player of the game.

North Melbourne (87) Def West Coast (82)

Another close contest here with the Eagles having a huge comeback. North stick out to get the win in what was a very encouraging sign for their year ahead.

1 Vote – Harry Sheezel (North). Wow! What a debut from this bloke. He’s going to be something special. Round 1 nomination for the Rising Star award, signs a contract extension with North until 2026. What a start to his career. 34 disposals, 22 kicks and 9 marks. Outstanding to say the least, on any other day he gets the 3 votes, but 2 of his teammates manage to edge him out I reckon.

2 Votes – Nick Larkey (North). The big Souva kicked a whopping 6 goals to start the year. Dominated up front and was critical to the Roos’ success.

3 Votes- Luke Davies-Uniacke (North). A great game from LDU, I feel like he’s gonna have a big year and really help drive North back to having a winning culture. He had 32 touches, 1 goal, and a whopping 10 clearances!!

Port Adelaide (126) Def Brisbane Lions (72)

What an upset! A result that nobody really expected, as if there was going to be a smashing, you would have thought it would be Brisbane on the winning end. Are the Power back to being contenders?

1 Vote – Ryan Burton (Port) 24 touches 21 kicks and 7 marks. Great performance down back and was their anchor for most of the game.

2 Votes – Ollie Wines (Port) After a rather lacklustre 2022, the 2012 Brownlow Medalist was back to his best with 29 touches 1 goal, 9 marks and 6 clearances.

3 Votes Jason Horne-Francis (Port) Wow this kid can play! All it took was a return home and he is starting to show why he was a Number 1 draft pick. 25 touches, 1 goal, and 7 clearances, also bullied the Lions’ midfield for the entire 3rd qtr. Gonna be a good player this year.

Melbourne (115) Def Western Bulldogs (65)

Dees were always gonna be too strong for the Dogs, so it was no surprise when the Dogs ran out of legs and got rolled over in the final Qtr.

1 Vote – Clayton Oliver (Melb) 33 touches 8 clearances. Yawning effort. Gets it done week in and week out, is 2023 his year to finally win a Brownlow?

2 Votes – Christian Petracca (Melb) The main reason why Clarry hasn’t won the medal yet and he looks to most likely steal plenty of votes from him this year. 30 touches 8 clearances. He’s a god on the field and in the kitchen. No arguments here

3 Votes – Kysaiah Pickett (Melb). 19 touches 4 goals. This new midfield CBA role is huge for him and it will really see him improve immensely. Fantastic game, although picks up a 2 game suspension for the hit on Bailey Smith, ruling him out of Brownlow contention.

Sydney Swans (110) Def Gold Coast Suns (61)

Swans avoid Grand Final hangover with a big win up north at the newly named Heritage Bank Stadium. Swoms can do some damage this year.

1 Vote – Jarrod Witts (GC). What a game, AA ruckman in the making, after losing to Gawn for years. 25 disposals 51 hit outs. Wowsers.

2 votes- Dane Rampe (Syd). What a game down back for Sydney’s co-captain 25 touches and a whopping 12 intercept possessions. Gun.

3 votes- Chad Warner (Syd). His Brownlow form continues from last year. This kid is a genuine dark horse chance. Controlled the whole game. 30 touches, 8 tackles, 14 score involvements. WOW.

GWS (106) Def Adelaide (110)

Great game Giants get up in a close one, as it was really a battle of whoever could handle the 40-degree heat better, which in the end, was GWS.

1 vote – Callan Ward (GWS) 31 touches and a goal. Cleans up one vote.

2 votes- Toby Greene (GWS) Wow what a statement to make in his first game as captain! 4 goals and 19 touches for the Giants captain. BULL.

3 votes- Tom Green (GWS). What a weapon. It is his breakout season, Taranto and Hopper leave and he dominates the midfield. 37 touches, 1 goal, 8 clearances, and 12 score involvements. Bloke brought his own footy.

Hawks (65) Def By Essendon (124)

Hawks looking very average to start the year. Oh no, could be another one of THOSE years to Hawks fans. Good win from the Dons.

1 vote – Jordan Ridley (Ess), 20 disposals @ 95% efficiency, 1 goal.

2 votes- Archie Perkins (Ess). 20 touches, 3 goals, 7 marks. Huge game for the young man.

3 votes- Darcy Parish (Ess). 37 touches, 13 clearances, and 9 score involvements. Self-explanatory.

Fremantle (62) Def By St Kilda (67)

Definitely didnt tip this. Would like to blame this loss on 2-time Brownlow medalist Nat Fyfe. He sucked this game, questions need to be asked, are the Dockers better without him?.

1 vote- Jack Steele (Stk). Good game from the skip, 28 touches, and 5 clearances.

2 votes – Mason Wood (Stk) 20 touches, 2 goals. Great game.

3 votes- Luke Ryan (Fre) One of the only shining lights for Freo with 37 touches at 92% efficiency, 13 marks, and 13 intercepts. Amazing game in the losing side.

Round 1 Leaderboard

No real leaderboard update this week as it is pretty obvious who is on top with the players who netted 3 votes all sharing the top of the board.

G’Day, legends, Nicko here and I like to think of myself as quite the savant when it comes to AFL Fantasy and Supercoach and after a strong start to the year, I thought I may as well lend my advice out to anyone that needs some help with their teams. Weekly, I’ll be bringing you my AFL Supercoach team, discussing who laid well, who didn’t and what my strategy going forward is regarding captains and trades.

Round 1 Score: 2130 – Ranking 4117/169248 (Top 2%)

Source: Supercoach.com

Defenders

Happy with this. Stupidly didn’t pick a reserve and Yeo Didn’t Play for me this week so sat one player down in the backline and could have had a Wilmot earn me 50 extra points, which would have seen that ranking go up even further. This is why you need to pay attention, one little slip like that can sot you some valuable points.

Dawson (ADE) – The Adelaide skipper hits the tonne and I am happy with that, he will be the anchor down back.

Young (Fre) – Wow how good. He’s going to be a great player this year both on the field and on the SC scorebook, a genuine lock in my lineup. 137 points to start us, how good!?

Daicos (COLL) – He was always gonna have a big game, he’s a key player in the Pies’ side and mine. 129 won’t be the highest score he gets this year.

Ginbey (WC) – A solid 85 points on debut, licking my lips he is gonna generate some big money for me. If you don’t have him, get him! He is only about 170k, no excuses.

McKenna (BNE) – You wouldn’t know this bloke has been out of footy for a couple of years. Serious cash cow potential, get him in ASAP.

Wilmot (BNE) and Chesser (WC) – Chopping away at the bench. As long as they hit breakeven and make some coin I’m happy.

Midfielders

Bit of opportunity for changes in the next few weeks here for sure. Expected more from some of these players.

Oliver (MEL)– 113 and was my captain for the week, so double the points. Definitely, a pass mark for him, as he should be expected to hit this most weeks. Happy as.

Green (GWS) – This bloke is in for a massive year, I am telling you, Giants midfield now revolves around him. He is a deadset jet and was just about everywhere on the weekend. Get him in.

Horne-Francis (PA) – I knew he’d go well with a different club, sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery to get you going. 136 is amazing for his price.

Hopper (RICH) – Definitely not as good as I hoped. Can’t complain when he is only 332k 67 points though, with his role, I would like him to be around the 80-point mark.

Sheed (WC) – Hell yes! 89 points. Smashed my expectations. He will make money at just 332K.

Callaghan (GWS) – 101 while he is still young, very very good. Many people forget he was once a 3rd Overall Draft Pick behind JHF and Daicos, he’ll be a great pickup.

Ashcroft (BNE) – Expected a bit more from the big fella, impressive numbers in the preseason but hasn’t translated into round one, willing to forgive, but I am not overly patient.

Phillips (NM) – Good debut 65 points is decent, can’t complain.

Constable (GC) – Good to see him back playing footy at the top level. Will generate cash for sure.

Roberts (SYD) – If he keeps his spot in the team he will be a good cash generator. Tore it up in the VFL last year.

Rucks

One of, if not the most crucial position in SC in my opinion and it was definitely good performance from these two lads.

Marshall (STK) 80 & Cameron (COLL) 103. I’ll take that. I am obviously building some coin to get the top rucks eventually instead of having them early. They did that job in round one.

Forwards

Bang! This was massive for me, my pride and joy. The Forward line did bits!

Dunkley (BNE) 108, Rozee (PA) 97, Taranto (RICH) 103, Martin (RICH) 84 and Gulden (SYD) 115 all did their job. Big points from the boys definitely cannot complain.

Now time for the flop of the round and I’m not happy. Nat Fyfe (FRE) gets a measly 26 points. Well, he does not look good at all. If you want you can give him another chance but pretty disappointing from a former Brownlow medalist.

Sheezel (NM) was only on the bench for me, which is disappointing that I didn’t get his 114 points, but he is making some money for me so I am stoked. This bloke is gonna be good.

Overall Thoughts

A decent round and pretty happy with round one, especially finding myself in the Top 2%.

BacksTrade Targets: Watch Luke Ryan (FRE), Sam Docherty (CAR) and Jake Lloyd (SYD). 3 players that can potentially slip into the team.

Trades – Sitting with it this week. Will let Ginbey, and McKenna build some coin then upgrade them later in the season.

Mids – Trade Targets: A lot here. My midfield is definitely my opportunity. Lots of young players in there and will be offloaded when the chance is given.

Davies-Uniacke (NM), Rowell (GC), and Setterfield (ESS) are three to watch. Not top of-market players but looks like they are going to have big years.

Trades – Hopper (RICH) is on the chopping block radar over the next few weeks. Will let him play but his role doesn’t look too good for me at Richmond.

RucksTrade Targets: Jarrod Witts (GC). A massive year is incoming and he is not the top-of-the-price ruckman.

Need to seriously get onto him early he will be up there with Gawn (MEL) all year.

TradesMarshall (STK) and Cameron (COLL) can stay there, for now, they are doing their job.

Forwards – Trade Targets: Obviously the top-of-the-range players. Coniglio (GWS) looking back at his best, Toby Greene (GWS) as well. Pickett (MEL) is an interesting one. I had him in and out of my team this pre-season. Melbourne confirming he will be attending more centre bounces was huge and he hits it with a 120-point Round 1. So, now that he has multiple positions, he is definitely huge value to be bringing into your team.

Definitely will be watching him. And see if he needs to kick goals to make points.

A young gun from Melbourne as well, Kade Chandler (MEL), is definitely on my radar. 93 points and now a breakeven of -30 will be my cash cow to get in for the week if you haven’t already (That is if you already have the big main ones like Sheezel (NM) and Callaghan (GWS))

Trades: Nat Fyfe (FRE) has to go. The breakeven is up at 80 now. Not the role everyone thought he will play. Good-bye Fyfe. In comes, the young gun Chandler (MEL) to chill on the bench and Sheezel (NM) gets promoted to the field.

Whacking the E on Wilmot, Constable, Chandler and Roberts.

New Team

That’s all from me this week lads. Good luck and if you have any questions by all means hit me up.

Well, wasn’t last week a rollercoaster of emotions? Cheerful Legend gets the job done, as I thought he would, but unfortunately, Fighting McLaren goes down in close fashion. We were so close to snagging my first multi for this segment! But not to worry, I am back and more ready than ever to hit one of these.

The Multi

Leg 1: Randwick R2 – Mogo Magic Win

Leg 2: Randwick R6 – Skirt The Law Win

Leg 3: Randwick R7 – In Secret Win

Leg 4: Randwick R8 – Anamoe Win

Multi Pays $16.12
Copy This Multi On Dabble

The Reasoning

Well, this one is pretty simple. I have taken my 4 most confident tips from this week’s edition of The Quaddie Poddy and combined them all to win.

Mogo Magic is my BEST bet of the day, so I hope for my stats that he is getting up and I am really confident he does. He might be super short in a highway but he has dominated every start so far and all of his trials. I can really see him rising through the grades nicely here.

Skirt The Law is apparently the ‘best juvenile’ Tony Gollan has ‘ever trained’, that is huge props to give considering I love a bit of Isotope who was a gun in its juvenile days. She has been faultless to start her career and also recently smashed a trial in by about 6 lengths. She can go 4/4 here today.

In Secret is a star, she could be anything really. Her turn of foot is up there with some of the best in the country at the moment and she is one you can never count out. I always love horses that just get the job done and know where the line is. This horse knows exactly where that line is and always makes sure that she is the first across it. She is a star and should be winning today.

Anamoe is the best horse in the country, enough said really.

Alright, legends, that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back next Saturday!
If this gets up, you owe me a beer!

The Multi:

Leg 1: Rosehill R2 – Cheerful Legend Win

Leg 2: Morphettville R5 – Fighting McLaren Win

Multi Pays: $24.20

Copy The Multi on Dabble

The Reasoning

This one is pretty simple really. Call this one the Nick Ownership Multi as I have a small stake in both of these horses, and I am hoping they both get up for sentimental reasons. The good thing is, they both have genuine strong chances to do so as well.

Cheerful Legend SHOULD have won last start. Got robbed right on the line by the stablemate. But the run to the line was very strong and the step up in distance will only help him. Looking forward to having him storm down the outside and get his nose over the line.

Fighting McLaren is probably the most consistent horse in my stable. Running super well without winning lately. Steps up in grade, but he will carry no weight. 51kg on his back is feathers and he will really be able to dig in come the final stages.

Alright, legends, that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back next Saturday!

The Reasoning

As you can tell I am pretty all in on 3 horses specifically this weekend.

I’m Thunderstruck should be the favourite for the CF Orr Stakes, not Jacquinot. Was Jacquinot racing against Anamoe, Zaaki and Alligator Blood his entire prep in Spring? No. I’m Thunderstruck was and he was holding his own. Trialled enormously recently and he should just blitz them over the final part of the straight.

Savannah Cloud is another one I am loving the look of at $6. She is my girl. Ultra consistent, and never puts in a bad run, I think she comes back in grade here, a mile back in grade as well mind you and absolutely puts them to the sword. Could get ugly.

Waterford is my BEST bet for the weekend, so I had to put him in here. He just has a load of class about him. Fell in love with the way he went about his business in the Spring and I will continue to follow him everywhere he goes. Just watch him win a G1 this year. Just you wait.

Alright, legends, that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back next Saturday!

Leg 2: Rosehill R7 – Kalino to Win

Leg 3: Rosehill R8 – Golden Mile to Win

Multi Pays: $29.52

The Reasoning

Leg 1 is pretty simple as Cheerful Legend is my very own horse. That’s right, I own this bad boy, and it must just be the Nicko factor because since I joined the ownership pool he has already won, in what USED to be a rare occasion for him, but I plan on that happening a lot more often now.

Leg 2 is Kalino for me. I know Cashy tipped Spacewalk, but I am appalled at his loyalty. Kalino has been a Mock horse for a while now and it was his best bet last start when he WON! I expect the same today as Waller has finally figured out that he is a sprinter, not a miler and he can salute today and continue to build his picket fence.

Leg 3 is also pretty simple for the Expressway Stakes. Golden Mile is a class above this lot, even Forbidden Love, I am so off her now after last prep after she cost me quite a bit of money. Forbidden Love = Bad Vibes, Golden Mile = Good Vibes.

Alright, legends, that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back next Saturday!

Alright, legends I am back for another multi, unfortunately, the Magic Millions edition went down with Russian Conquest and Love Tap not pulling their weight, but I am quietly confident that we can turn a tenner into $100 today with this multi. Let’s get into it!

Leg 1: Randwick R4 – Mahagoni to Place

Leg 2: Randwick R5 – Passeggiata to Place

Leg 3: Moonee Valley R8 – Savannah Cloud to Place

Leg 4: Randwick R9 – Bazooka to Place

Multi Pays: $11.24

The Reasoning

This one is pretty simple, 4 legs, no bullsh*t, just 4 horses to run in the top 3.

Mahagoni is one of ours, we back him every start and he has been pretty damn consistent honestly. The last time he was in one of my multis, his leg saluted easily, this week I expect no less honestly. He should jump, wait for his moment and then storm down the straight and into the money.

Passeggiata is a talented-looking horse and has become Cashy’s best bet for this week, so I am trusting his judgement on this one, if it can’t even place, blame Cashy!

Savannah Cloud is up there with my favourite horses running around at the moment. She is just so consistent, you just know what you’re going to get with her. She is also building a very nice picket fence next to her name with 4 wins on the trot, all very strong runs. She keeps stepping up in grades but I don’t doubt her ability to keep rising to the occasion.

Bazooka finally, if we get down to this leg, and we should, It all rests on my good friend Will Mitchell’s horse Bazooka. I often back it out of loyalty, but mind you, the form is very good. Coming off a win, loves Randwick and the track should be bone dry by the time he races. With Dylan Gibbons on board, he will fly with the low weight!

Alright, legends, that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back next Saturday!

Hey legends, I am back for another week and yes, I know last week didn’t go to plan because some cowardly $1.40 favourites lost, but that is why you only put them in multis!

Let’s get into this weeks!

Leg 1: Gold Coast R4 – Eleven Eleven Place

Leg 2: Gold Coast R6 – King of Sparta Place

Leg 3: Gold Coast R7 – Platinum Jubilee Place

Leg 4: Gold Coast R8 – Russian Conquest Place

Leg 5: Gold Coast R9 – Love Tap Place

Multi Pays: $25.94

The Reasoning

Bit of Magic Millions flare to this one and I am taking my most confident tips and putting them in a place multi!

Eleven Eleven, I tipped him last year and he won. The boy loves the Magic Millions day, has won here the last 3 years, this is just where he turns it on. He’ll be in the finish.

King of Sparta is what everyone is calling the moral of the day, I don’t want to get sucked into that nonsense, as we know, the $1.80 horse can be a bit of a trap sometimes, so we’ll just have him to place.

Platinum Jubilee is my girl. Heart has been set on her since her huge debut win last year. It was freakish. I think she is way over the odds for a win, let alone a place. She should be in the finish, Waterhouse just gets these 2YO’s better than anyone else.

Russian Conquest is another one that just loves the Magic Millions track, considering last year she was going down narrowly to Coolangatta and I respect The Gat more than I do most horses, so that is great form in my eyes. Seems to be back to her best, so I think she is in for a big run today.

Then finally Love Tap. This boy has a habit of getting up for me at huge odds and I have a feeling that he does it again. The big Grey has Timmy Clark on his back and should be in it right to the finish, great each-way chance, so if he places we can finish off this multi with a bang!

Alright, legends, that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back next Saturday!
If this gets up, you owe me a beer!
